HEBDEN BRIDGE - around Hebden Water

Jerry, Ginny and Rich went to deal with several small reported issues: - two broken steps, encroaching vegetation and accumulated mud on the popular riverside path. What we actually discovered was two quite serious issues that will need sorting sooner rather than later.

Today's work was funded by Little Box consulting. Many thanks.

The details

A step riser was replaced on the path into Lee Woods.

Because of tree roots and the sloping path, people had resorted to walking on the very edge of some sections of the path. The path was levelled and widened . . . which should solve the problem.

We went to replace a single step that had been reported only to discover that the whole flight - risers and side-sections - needs replacing. This will be a major job.

Both risers and side-sections are quite rotten.

The path alongside the river has become narrow in several places and brambles were beginning to encroach. Some sections were widened and vegetation was cut back along the entire length of the path.

The bridge at the end was scraped clean. The beams are still ok, but some of the fencing will need replacing in the near future.
