TODMORDEN - Cornholme - above Pudsey Road

Ian V, Ken & Catherine were one of several teams out in Todmorden on a cold, but thankfully non-rainy Friday, in early January.

The team were sent to Cornholme, to a junction of paths above Pudsey Road. They were tasked with removing four large posts, some of which were wobbly and all of which were suspected to be rotten. The plan is to return next week to replace the posts and refit the barriers to allow pedestrian access but inhibit illegal use of this footpath.

After a bit of chin-scratching and post-wobbling it was decided they all existing posts were redundant. Extraction was easier said than done as they were in deep with some being set in concrete! The team cut back the brambles to improve access and then used the bar to break up the concrete and loosen the packed soil. Against the odds they came out without too much trouble. Measurements were taken for the new posts and the holes were covered up. We'll be back next week to finish the job.

The team also ventured further up the path and inspected some steps which have either rotted and or need attention. Photos were taken for this future job.

Today's work was funded by a donation from Todmorden Wind Farm through the Community Foundation for Calderdale. Many thanks.

The posts waiting to be removed. One barrier was
missing . . .we found it in the undergrowth!

This beastie was the hardest to get out.
Massive rocks and concrete were the problem!

But in the end it was no match for
this determined team!

And after that it was just bish, bash, bosh!
