RIPPONDEN: CALDERDALE WAY at MILL BANK , STILE CLEARANCE at ROCHDALE ROAD

Lynda and Eleanor were out today principally to finally finish clearing the steps leading down the hill to Mill Bank. Again the weather was unexpectedly warm and dry.

There was a lot of grass etc intruding onto the steps obscuring the stone underneath . We had to take care not to remove too much as in some places there was an interdependency between wall and tussocks . . . and we didn't want to be responsible for bringing the wall down!

.... but we cleared most of the grass to reveal the full width of the steps ....

A couple of hours later, and having received appreciative comments from passing walkers, we were done.
We then went up to Barkisland to do some waymarking.

The last job of the day was to clear a Rochdale Road stile which had been reported by a local resident.

Some time later - all done!

This work was kindly funded by a grant from Ripponden Parish Council and individual donations to CROWS
