TODMORDEN - Todmorden Moor Geology Trail

The weather forecast was reasonable ....but how could it be so wrong?

RJ and Kasher decided to walk the Todmorden Moor Geology Trail which starts at Guide Quarry at the junction of Tower Causeway and Flowerscar Road (https://www.wyorksgeologytrust.org/misc/Todmorden%20Moor%20geology.pdf) and to assess whether we needed to return to this route to replace/repaint/reposition marker posts, and to sort out the information boards.

The eight information boards on the Geology Trail were last refurbished by CROWS in September 2020. See https://communityrightsofwayservice.blogspot.com/2020/09/geology-trail-on-todmorden-moor.html

This route is well worth visiting and the boards give fantastic details of the geology of this moor which lies between the Bacup Road, Flowerscar Road and Tower Causeway. The boards also give details of the mining, and other industries that were carried out here over the last 150 years.

On a day where the cloud level was low, the rain persistent and the moor sodden it was hardly an inviting place ........ but on a clear day the views are spectacular!

The way marked Geology Trail on Todmorden Moor.
