Ken, Neil D and Rich went to this very popular permissive path to replace a bridge that had become dangerous and to deal with two awkward steps on to the dam wall (we also did a bit of tree lopping while we were there).
Many thanks to the local owners of the path who funded this work. The details
Ken made a very early start to remove the old bridge which turned out to be totally rotten and has now gone to the tip for recycling.
Ken and Neil then secured the new bridge and added anti slip staples to the new cross-treads...
... and were soon greeting the first person to cross it, a friendly local resident and her even friendlier dog.
Meanwhile Rich put in some new (absolutely level) steps up onto the old dam retaining wall, with help from Ken to get the stobs in straight. Finally Ken and Neil finished off improving another awkward drop off the dam wall, incorporating some basic dry stone walling techniques.
