On a beautiful mid-May day Fred and Kasher were working on the Pennine Bridle Way (PBW).
CROWS had been asked by Natural England to carry out strimming and cutting back on a number of sections of the PBW in the Upper Calder Valley.
Today we tackled two sections:
1) Part of the Mary Townley Loop at Sand Bed between Jumble Hole Road (Blackshaw 079) and Callis Bridge (Erringden 023)
1. Fred widening the PBW near Sand Bed. |
2. The PBW sign in danger of disappearing! |
3. Fred topping up the strimmers. |
4. Lumbutts Lane. |
It is interesting how the brambles and nettles are growing rapidly and are, in places, in danger of covering the pathways.
We have widened the routes and have cut back low branches to make it easier for people on horseback to travel down these bridleways.
5. Lumbutts Lane, now clearer. |
We will need to continue the work on Lumbutts Lane next week before moving onto other sections of the PBW near Walsden.
6. PBW fingerpost at Mankinholes. |
