Luddenden

On a disappointingly chilly morning after the recent warm and sunny weather, Andrew, Ian S and Jan ventured beyond Shepherd House above Luddenden village to repair (= rebuild) a stile in a field occupied by three young colt horses. Reassured by Ian's reputation as horse whisperer, we made our way along unfeasibly narrow roads and tracks to a place where we could park reasonably close to the work site.

The stile could more accurately be described as two posts with a rail which blocked a gap in a barbed wire fence, but a close search revealed the remnants of a tread board and supporting posts. New rails, supports, grab post and tread board would make a real difference!

The stile beforehand...

Looking much better afterwards...

Today's work was funded by Luddenden Civic Society - thank you.
