On a grey and wet day, Neil D and Kasher tackled a number of outstanding (but small) tasks in the Todmorden area.
Neil was introduced to the delights of Guide Quarry, where we added the wire to the final (?) tree enclosure in this small collection of diverse trees.
1. Tree enclosure No 7 completed. |
We then moved down Tower Causeway and installed a couple of "Ground Nesting Birds" notices. The next task was the temporary repair on the two-step stile on Tod 074 which is the route from Bearnshaw Tower to the ruin at Flower Scar. This stile may need a rebuild before too long but we will wait until the nearby building and earth moving works have been completed.
2. Running repairs on a stile above Bearnshaw Tower. |
A short drive took us to Burnt Acre Lane (Erringden 024) where we cut back holly bushes, and reinstated and installed marker posts.
3. Marker post reinstated. |
4. Neil cutting back the holly. |
Returning towards Todmorden, we went to investigate the report of branches obstructing the footpath (Tod 176) which is behind Tipside on the route towards Top Brink. However, many thanks to the person who had already cut these branches and cleared the footpath.
Today's tasks were funded by individual donations to CROWS. Many thanks.
