Andrew, Jan, Ken and Rich, delighted by the sounds of curlews, oyster catchers and lapwings had three main tasks to do today:
- Repairing the broken tread and rails on a stile
- Cutting back overhanging vegetation
- Way-marking
Work funded by proceeds from Blackshaw Head fell race.
More details
The path route was very unclear, so we cut back some of the encroaching vegetation and rebuilt some steps to access the path.
The stile treadboard and legs were completely rotten and needed replacing.
The stile is now safe and secure.
On the way back, we added a waymark on Edge Lane to indicate the path, replaced a finger post leading down to Lower Fold and sorted a stile going up to Heptonstall Moor.
That completes all the jobs identified in this area . . . but we know we will need to return!
