There was a team of four out in Redacre Wood today. Ray and Frank S were working on the steps leading down to Hill House Clough, while Jerry and Jan were repairing the set of 50 steps leading up out of the wood.
The steps by the stream were looking neglected with the top step missing, the second step rotten, and the revetment at the side in poor shape.
After some work it was much improved with new timber and with the treads all cleaned and levelled. We also repaired one of the steps on the opposite bank.
Further up the path, Jerry and Jan replaced seven of the fifty steps, which had rotted away over the years.
We counted another seven or eight rotten steps in this flight, and so we'll be back soon to finish the job.
This work was funded by public donations to CROWS. Many thanks for your support.
