On a rainy day, a team of three, Jerry, Ray and Frank S, returned to Redacre Wood to repair the flight of steps on the top path between the two benches. There had originally been eight steps with two sections of revetment alongside. Over the years, one revetment had badly rotted, and the step risers had mostly disappeared, leaving just undulations along the path.
After several hours work we had replaced one revetment and five of the eight steps.
We also levelled and widened the path leading up to the steps, to make it easier for two walkers to pass each other. The added mud makes the new timber blend in quite well!
