Today was a day of clearing up small jobs and checking possible problems following reports that had been sent to CROWS.
Catherine and Kasher started at Bridestones by putting staples on the boardwalk which was completed on Wednesday.
1. Staples added to new boardwalk. |
We then went to Shore to investigate a walled-lane with a drainage problem - the path is certainly wet!
2. The walled lane with drainage issues. |
Next, we moved on to Todmorden Moor to replace a 'Todmorden Centenary Way' sign and to firm up a couple of posts across the moor.
4. After..... |
3. Before.... |
We also took the opportunity to replace some cross-treads (re-cycled from the dismantled boardwalk at Bridestones) on one of the Todmorden Moor boardwalks. When the Todmorden Moor boardwalks were checked in mid 2022 we did not repair this particular one as the path followed a different desire line. However, now conditions across this moor are so wet, the boardwalk has started to be used - hence the repair..
5. Catherine sorting out the boardwalk. |
After a short trip to Guide Quarry to put additional netting on one of the tree enclosures, we went to check the new stile above Frieldhurst and to add a CROWS plaque. This very simple task took longer than expected - we had the wrong size tacks. Whoops! . . . . but it was a brilliant place for a late lunch stop.
We need to return to this area to solve a slight drainage problem near the revetment on the approach to this recently installed stile.
6. Drainage issues above Frieldhurst. |
7. CROWS plaque added to the stile. |
Finally we measured up the stile below Dundee for some work which will be carried out in the near future.
8. Brilliant lunch stop with views into Cornholme. |
Today's work has been funded by individual donations to CROWS. Many thanks.
