TODMORDEN- Todmorden Moor

On a bitterly cold, blustery and slightly damp day Ian V and Kasher were out above Carr Road ticking off a number of tasks:

1: Adding wire to the tree enclosure.

CROWS have constructed a number of tree enclosures near Guide Quarry off the Flower Scar Road. These have been planted with a range of different trees. Another enclosure was constructed last week and an ash tree planted. Today's task was to add the wire around the enclosure to prevent sheep grazing the small sapling.

1. A mini copse of tree enclosures
and saplings.

2. Wire added to the recently constructed
tree enclosure.

2: Completion of yellow marker posts on Tod 074

A number of weeks ago a CROWS team re-established a line of yellow topped marker posts on the path (Tod 074) which runs from near Bearnshaw Tower to the Flower Scar ruin. This task was not completed so today's work was to add a couple of yellow-topped marker posts and to fix a few posts which were loose. The completed line of posts should making following the route easier in poor conditions.

3. A new marker post being positioned.

4. The way through the moor now a little clearer.

3. Stile repairs on Tod 070

The stile on footpath (Tod 070) where the route comes out of the plantation and onto the moor, needed some attention. Although we have done some work on this stile it needs a rebuild. This will have to wait until there is some clarity on the future of the plantation. . . and the right-of-way through it.

6. The main stile: still to be sorted out.

5. The dog gate now repaired.

Today's work has been funded by individual donations to CROWS. Many thanks
