Paul, Ian S and Rich tackled several jobs in these lovely woods populated mainly by holly, oak and sycamore. There is a confusing network of paths in the woods - two public footpaths and lots of other desire lines.
The aim today was to cut back and waymark the public footpaths.
HEBDEN ROYD 39
Two waymark posts were put in, a broken stile was cleared away and overhanging holly and brambles cut back. Someone had painted yellow blobs on the trees presumably to guide people through the woods. Unfortunately, some were quite confusing and there does seem to be far too many. Having taken some expert advice and consulted the landowner, we managed to remove the confusing ones.

A waymark post was put in (dead upright!) at a junction by the pond, more holly management was done and we repainted the top of an existing waymark post to make it more obvious.
NEXT STEPS
Two more posts to go in, a trip hazard to remove and a bridge over a tricky stream. We will probably thin out the number of 'paint blob's as well.
Today's work was funded by Calderdale Council Highways.
