Linda, Jerry, Stella and Rich worked in two locations today.
ACRE LANE (TOP OF POPPLES COMMON)
This wide walled-path has become very narrow, overgrown with bilberry and contains a surprise two foot 'step'
The bilberry was cut back, the narrow section of the path was widened and two steps were installed. At the top, the waymark posts were fixed and some gorse was trimmed.
Then, after a lunch with some fine views, on to our second site ....
BELOW HEPTONSTALL BOWLING CLUB
We had a request from a wheelchair user to say she could no longer use the paths in this area. Over the years there has been a build- up of vegetation that has narrowed the paths and created a groove.
Today was a test of how we might sort this problem We managed to widen a long
section of the path and did some test sections of other parts of the
paths heading towards Hell Hole Rocks.
This is clearly going to be quite a big job that we will try to tackle over the next two to three months.
Both jobs were funded by Heptonstall Parish Council.
