WALSDEN: Inchfield Road

 Inchfield: Fingerposts and waymarks

A day of strange happenings! Here's a picture of Mick's car.

1. More open than usual!
Yes! That is a shattered rear window. Cause unknown, but very convenient for loading long sections of timber (Mmm! Safety alert: don't try this at home!).

A short but very draughty ride later saw Mick and Frank H puzzling over a pile of wooden fingerposts that had been removed and dumped by the roadside!
Who was responsible and why it was done is still under investigation.

Hence, the mission for the day was to re-install these posts and also waymark footpaths and bridleways to clarify some of the rights-of-way in the Inchfield Road and Foul Clough Road areas. (Namely: FPs Todmorden 121, 123, 124, 125 and BW Todmorden 122).

2. Abandoned pile of fingerposts!
3. Right-of-way (FP Todmorden 124)
clearly marked.

4. Fingerpost installed on 3rd attempt (!) to
indicate footpath (Todmorden 123)
towards Rough Hey Lane.
5. The last post! Installed on 1st
attempt (hooray!) to indicate
footpath (Todmorden 125)
towards Rake Head Barn Lane.

The weather was fine and although conditions were chilly, and wet underfoot when we walked across exposed fields, we soon warmed up with bursts of sawing, digging and post-hole packing.

Today's work was funded by individual donations to CROWS. Many thanks.
