Catherine and Kasher ventured to Cornholme to continue working on the path Tod 085. This path is a short cut on the zig-zag path (Tod 008) which goes up the hillside towards the ruin at Roundfield.
The steep path runs parallel with the wall. Unfortunately over the years the path has become 'littered' with stones that have either come off the wall or tumbled down the hillside.
1. Catherine clearing fallen stones. |
2. The path with larger stones removed. |
The team worked removing the worst of the stones so that the route was easier to negotiate. The stones removed were put at the side of the route or onto the semi-ruined wall so that the mosses and lichen were not removed far from their original location.
3. Work in progress. |
4. Much clearer now, the route down towards Lydgate. |
Two additional yellow topped posts were put in (one by Mick and Neil M) to delineate the route.
5. The marker posts on the route. |
The team then topped up the backfilling of the four steps at the bottom of the footpath, which had been built last week by Ian V and Ken.
6. The new steps at the bottom of Tod 085. |
Residents of Cornholme once again held a festive wreath making workshop at Vale Baptist Church to raise funds for CROWS. In December 2022 they raised the grand sum of £210. Our work today was financed from this source. Many thanks from CROWS!
