Dauber Bridge to Broadhead Clough track: Dog-gate
The cold, frosty day started with a CALVAG delivery. Well done, Jack, for coping with icy local roads! Then it was CROWS turn to negotiate a snowy and slippery track with Ray (skillful driver) and Frank H (appreciative passenger) eventually reaching the location in picture 1.
1. Before: A stable, tidy stile that needs a dog-gate. |
*Remove the small notice that warns dog owners about livestock in the grazing area.
*Fix dog-gate brackets to the top two cross-rails.
*Add a grab pole to the left of these brackets and fix it to all four cross-rails. Cut out part of a lower rail.
*Cut the ''lift' section to size and put the 'lift' in place.
*Fix an 'end-stop' to the lift and re-fix the warning notice.
Work in progress.
Sharp eyed observers will notice:
*Picture 2 was not taken on the same day as picture 1.
*Ray and Frank are wearing clothing that neatly blends in with the white, grey and black of the surroundings . . . apart from Frank's seasonal hat!
3. Nearly done: |
*Just the warning sign to fix in place.
*Stile being tested by landowner who was on a cutting back brambles mission!
Back at the depot:
Just enough time to clean up tools, recharge the drill battery, cut some low marker posts, shape the tops of these posts and cut some more dog-gate lifts . . . before going on to the CROWS quarterly meeting.
Today's work was funded by a donation from the landowner. Many thanks.
