CRAGG VALE - Paper Mill to Lower Lumb

Another section of the 'Coiners' walking route. Billie, Ginny, Heidi, Linda and Rich worked on the lovely, old, walled path (marked in yellow on the map). The paths marked in blue are identified for future work (drainage, waymarking and cutting back). Many thanks to local landowners for giving us permissions and advising on best solutions.

Heidi and Linda started off by replacing two rotten waymark posts in front of Paper Mill.

The walled path was overgrown, a rotten fence was falling into the path and there were lots of loose stones on the surface.

After lots of sawing, shearing, lopping and scraping we managed to get a great lunch in the sun!

More work removing the (redundant) barbed wire fence and clearing surfaces transforms the path (see before and after photo below):

Then, after dealing with the old barbed wire and carrying out further waymarking, there was just enough time for a group photo on Paper Mill Bridge.

The work today was funded by Hebden Royd Town Council.

Meanwhile Neil is exploring European waymarking for us ........
