What a brilliant Friday to be out and about sorting out several tasks around Tod!
1. Stile repairs at Bridestones
Catherine and Kasher ventured to Bridestones to replace a treadboard on an open access stile between Bridestones Moor and Golden Stones. With the mists swirling around and the amazing light conditions it was great to be on top of the world (well, our bit of it!) and looking across a sea of cloud to the wind turbines on the other side of the valley.

2. Views (!) from Bridestones. |
We also checked out the boardwalk by the entrance to Bridestones. The stringers on this treadboard may be 'on their way out' and might need replacing soon - another task to be added to the Todmorden area "to do" list!

3. Mmm! Will the boardwalk last a little longer? |
2. Drainage issue in Shore
We then went to Shore to investigate a Tod Centenary Way drainage issue which had been reported to CROWS. We were unable to fix the problem today but will move the job to the 'urgent' list.

4. TCW bridleway below Shore. |
3. Step clearance above Scaitcliffe Hall
The main task of the day was to clear the steps on footpath Tod 082 from behind Scaitcliffe Hall to Flailcroft through Scaitcliffe Woods. These (mainly) stone steps were covered with years of rich, leaf mould. In many places it was impossible to see that there were actually any steps there!
This was a satisfying task and clearing the steps should make the route much safer. However, these are another example of steps which are easier to use going up (to Flailcroft) rather than going down (to Todmorden).
There is a final section still to clear which will be part of next week's task.
