After attempting a job where the ground was too frozen to work on, Billie, Heidi and Rich went up to Height Road and Hill House Brink. In October, the stile was reported as being rotted - today we found it lying on the ground!
Vaulting is the only way to get over this stile! |
We cut back the overhanging broom and pulled out the stumps of the old stile legs.
New legs and tread-board installed |
A new step needs putting in below the stile and there is a lot of gorse that needs cutting back - that's Monday's job sorted.
Rich then went on to pick up Ian Clarkson to deal with a reported fallen tree on a path going through Lee Wood below Heptonstall.
Pretty impassable |

Path now clear |
Thanks to Ian again.
MEANWHILE...
Linda H and Stella returned the lovely walled (and still partially paved) lane running NW from Throstle Bower Farm in Mytholmroyd, to complete the cutting back of patches of wildly-encroaching holly and brambles which had been narrowing the route.
Marvelously warming work for a bitterly cold day.
All the work today was funded by Hebden Royd Tangent Group (part of the Round Table family)
