WADSWORTH - PECKET WELL

 PECKET WELL

Today, Jerry and Paul returned to the Pecket Well area at Plumptom where one rotted marker post was replaced and another new one installed at the lane junction above the residential buildings. A third post was put in at the bottom of Slack House Lane where bridleway and footpath intersect. The new way markers and replacement posts are part of upgrading signage on proposed routes for the new 'Pecket Well Village Walks' leaflet that is due out next Spring.

The rotted post lies forlorn on the
ground in front of Jerry.

Post installed.

The day began with torrential downpours, so we started later than usual but by late morning the weather improved with patches of blue sky appearing. The footpath goes downhill to the left of the marker post along the side of the field wall, eventually leading to the rear of Pecket Well Mill.

New post installed

This second post indicated two ROW's; to the left towards Plumpton and on the right towards Aberdeen Flats and South Shields.

Third post completed!

This post primarily indicates the bridleway up from the top end of Wainsgate Lane toward Slack House and Delf End Quarry. The ROW footpath is a left turn toward Plumpton.

Work funded by Wadsworth Walking Market - thank you.
