Today a team of five (RJ, Fred, Andrew, Jan and Kasher) worked on both sides of the valley near Lobb Mill, just out of Todmorden on the road to Hebden Bridge.
1. Replacement of marker post: The bridleway marker-post at the bottom of Todmorden 037 needed replacing. We also took the opportunity to move the post a little further down the track towards the car park.

2. Cutting back on Todmorden 037: This well-used path was in need of cutting back. There was also one tree down over the track which needed clearing. We also cleared a number of turn-bys on the route up to Rodwell End. We will return to redo the way-marking on these routes.

3. Replacement of stile leg on Todmorden 177: This stile was a long walk uphill from Haugh Rd! We "just" needed to replace a short leg on this stile. As with all jobs with the word "just" in front of them, it took much longer than expected and was much more work than planned.

4. Cutting back on Tod 177: We did some cutting back on this Calderdale Way link path to make the route up the hillside and towards Mankinholes a little clearer.
5. Drainage on Tod 177: There are a number of points on this hillside where the drainage needs regular maintenance. We cleared a beautiful stone turnby and tried to persuade the water to follow this old route off the hill. We also cleared two other channels to encourage the water off the path and down the hill.

6: Clearing of stone steps on Tod 177: There are a number of small flights of stone steps on this footpath up the hillside. These were cleared. We checked the wooden steps which were put in a few years ago and thankfully no work will be needed on these.
Today's work has been funded by a kind donation in memory of Robert Harker who was a keen walker and a lover of the countryside.
