Today was a Todmorden "odd job clear up day" for Fred, Jan and Kasher.
Tod 016 off Butts Lane:
The team returned to a small path off Butts Lane (off Cross Stone Road) to clear the steps leading up from the road and to cut back and strim the rest of this route. The path was strimmed earlier in the year but has become overgrown with raspberries and brambles. This route leads to Swallowshaw and also towards the Calderdale Way.
CROWS had received a query about way-marking in this area so we took the opportunity to improve the way-marking for Tod 024 and Tod 030. We will, however, need to return on a dry day to refresh the paint on the yellow-topped posts around the myriad of paths in this area.

Way marking off Broadstone Street:
The team strimmed and cut back the path from Broadstone St to Carr House Lane earlier in the year. This route is in one of the popular 'Bus Walks Around Todmorden' leaflets. The path had previously been way-marked but the replacement of a fence meant that way-marks had been lost. These have now been replaced

Way marking and cutting back:
The fingerpost near Cross Stone church leading down the hill on Tod 039 had been reported as being overgrown with ivy. Thankfully someone had already cut back the worst of this so we just gave the area a 'hair-cut' before moving down the hill to the junction of Tod 039 and Tod 040 (Slant Lane and Carr House Lane). We cut back vegetation to reveal the marker post at the four-way junction and added some more markers to clarify the correct right-of-way.

Today's tasks were funded by individual donations to CROWS. Many thanks.
