Todmorden -Guide Quarry

Catherine, Kasher and Mick returned to Guide Quarry, at the junction of Flower Scar Road and Tower Causeway. Last week the team started the construction of an enclosure for new trees. This enclosure was completed today and a small horse chestnut tree planted and watered. This tree (and others) should flourish . . . provided they are given a little TLC to get them established.

We also dismantled three old enclosures, which had been there for two decades. Any salvageable timber and netting was put to one side for re-use at a later date - additional enclosures will be built when funding allows. We have several more trees to plant here so it would be good to get the construction done asap. "Plant a tree for '23.......and plant some more for '24!"

And what can we salvage from here?

We then went to Bride Stones Moor and put finishing touches to the open access stile which was constructed on Wednesday. An additional cross- rail was added to make the stile stock-proof and to reduce damage to the wire fencing.

Completed! The open access stile on Bride Stones Moor.

Today's work was funded by individual donations to CROWS. Many thanks.
