SMALL JOBS - in Cragg Vale, Hebden Bridge and Mytholm

Ginny and Rich went to the stream-side path in Cragg Vale below Spa bridge to dig out a rotten boardwalk prior to its replacement.

The boardwalk was also temporarily shored up in the middle!

The boardwalk will be replaced within the next few weeks.

This work and the new boardwalk will be funded by a legacy from Gerald Hardwick (West Yorkshire Ramblers).

We then went up to the lovely stone packhorse bridge below Green Bank on Turvin Road. We cleared a mulch pool that had gathered around one of the Cragg Vale interpretation boards and worked on the water source that was causing the problem. We also cut back some encroaching trees.

Then on to the riverside path at Salem in Hebden Bridge to fix a reported broken fence on the side of the goit.

It's amazing that this fence is still standing - it will eventually need replacing.

Further down, we cut back encroaching vegetation alongside Foster dams and partially dealt with a fallen tree that was blocking the path.

It will need a tidy next time we are out with a chainsaw.

The last job was a reported problem on some steps off Mytholm Steeps. The edge of the path had started to crumble and needed to be secured asap.

Heidi and Rich put in some revetment which should prevent further deterioration.

Looks good and went in pretty firmly.

Apart from the boardwalk, all the other jobs today were funded by donations to CROWS.
