There were three teams out from Todmorden today.
Ken and Ian V worked on drainage issues above Ashenhurst in Todmorden.
RJ and Fred took on the challenge of sorting out a very poor stile above Ashenhurst.
Richard P, Catherine and Kasher undertook a number of tasks near Hippins.
1) Work near Hippins
The following tasks were ticked off the very long "to do" list:
- Clearing the path of trees and branches which had come down after recent storms
- Drainage along the footpath from Hippins bridge to Hippins dam
- Reinstating yellow-topped posts and putting in new posts
- Attaching a grab post to the bridge over the stream
- Replacing one of the cross rails on the bridge
- Excavating a long-lost boardwalk and reinstating
- Improving the drainage above the boardwalk

2) Work at Ashenhurst
The footpath at the top of the Ashenhurst estate has been used as a tipping area for garden waste. A boardwalk installed a few years ago has long since disappeared. Drainage is a major problem here and people have had to create a path further and further away from the main line of the path. The team worked to improve the drainage and to establish a pathway through the quagmire.

The second team worked on improving the stile. The uprights were both rotten and have been replaced. The two steps of the stile will be replaced next week. We will also replace the two steps leading up to the stile.
