1. BROADHEAD CLOUGH - Cragg Vale & 2. IN-HOUSE -Tasks at the depot

 1. Broadhead Clough:

A fourth, and possibly final, visit to Broadhead Clough for RJFredCatherine and Kasher.

After an extremely long carry of tools (and two pieces of revetment) the teams completed the following tasks:

a) the building of steps between the SSSI and Erringden Moor.

New steps and marker post

New steps near the top of the clough

b) replacing a marker post at the top of the clough.

c) a small amount of cutting back.

d) completing the levelling of the path, and the placement of two revetments, above a very wet area towards the top of the clough.

The footpath and drainage at the end of the day

e) improving the drainage away from the footpath

What a fantastic day to be working (and dining) in such a beautiful place!

Fred, RJ and Catherine: lunchtime on Erringden Moor

The funding for today's work in Broadhead Clough was from HEC in Mytholmroyd. Many thanks.

2. In House: drilling, sweeping, sawing and painting . . . but not necessarily in that order!

While one team toiled and basked in the sunshine, the other team comprising Ken and Frank H worked in a somewhat cooler location - the semi-cellar that is the depot. No pictures were taken but in rapid succession the following happened:
*The 08.30 h timber delivery from CALVAG (bang on time as usual) was unloaded.
*The timber was cut to give a large stock of :-
*short (1.0 m) marker posts and standard (1.5 m) marker posts all with shaped tops.
*dog-gate 'lifts' with a supply of end stops and 'quick-fit' brackets.
*short legs and long legs for stile steps.
*Storage space was created and batches of marker posts needed for the Erringden and Pennine Way projects put to one side.
*More marker post tops were undercoated in preparation for their blue tops (for bridleways) or yellow tops (footpaths).
*Sundry items were collected from Totally Screwed.
*An azad was repaired (probably a temporary fix)
*The power-saw was cleaned-up (beautifully) and the associated dust-bag changed.
*Items for a session next week at Old Chamber were assembled.
*The depot floor and steps were swept.
*A damaged bar was taken away for re-welding.

Phew! . . . a longish session . . . but we did have a mid-morning break to sample the delights of 'Jo's Kitchen' for a quick brew and a brief sit in the sun!
