On a very wet and windy day, with the imminent arrival of Storm Dudley, Ian V, Paul and Kasher returned to work on Lower Lane in Blackshaw Head (BSH 50).
Background:
A few weeks ago this path was strimmed and work was done on the drainage. On a further visit, marker posts were installed to delineate the route along this tumbledown, walled lane. Today's plan was to try to further improve the drainage in one area and to place stepping stones on the sections which had dried out (slightly) following our previous visit.

Work undertaken:
The main drainage channels were cleared and deepened, and sections of the old wall moved slightly to encourage the flow of water away from the footpath.
Stones from the area were moved to try to create a safe and dry footpath near the wall and fence. This was far from easy but will (hopefully!) produce a path which will encourage people to use this route.
This was certainly a day where good waterproofs and well-fitting wellies were needed!
Future work:

We will also try to tackle a drainage issue on the track nearer to Harley Wood.
This work was funded by donations to CROWS. Many thanks.
