TODMORDEN - Cranberry Dam

Ken and Frank S were back at the Todmorden Centenary Way above Ramsden Wood, overlooking Cranberry Dam. There's a stile just by the ruined house with the display board that we renovated a few weeks ago. This picture shows how bad the stile was. Ken is holding up the main post which had completely broken off.

The left post and the supports for the top step were OK, and so we left them in place. We also cut off the rotten part of the broken post and re-used it to support a dog gate. Here's the stile at the end of the day.

It's not quite finished yet, as it needs two more rails and the sliding dog-gate mechanism. All being well this will be done next week. (It may look as if there's a big hole where sheep could get through, but actually the wire fence is still in place right across the stile. We'll remove it only when all the rails are in place).
