HEBDEN BRIDGE: Nutclough

Ginny and Rich worked on some steps that had rotted off, leaving a steep and somewhat slippery slope.

The path is used as a useful shortcut down from Sandy Gate.

Before we started

We thought the ground would be quite soft to get in the stobs, but it turned out to be pretty challenging getting through a rocky surface.

Using the bar and a club hammer to get through the stones

Once the stobs were in, they were all drilled and nailed, ready for back-filling.

Finding the right piece of stone!

The final touch was to direct people up the path by adding a waymark.

Finished job

It was lovely to see and hear so many children playing in the Nutclough; it is such a magic place.
