HEPTONSTALL: LUMB BANK

Lumb Bank -

Working on a lovely old route from 5-ways down to Eaves.

Section highlighted in yellow

Four problems....

First the path was very overgrown narrowing the path.

Some of the growth now cut back and the path widened

The second problem was the bottom of the drain being totally blocked with stones, gravel and mulch. The water was crossing the path causing scouring.

Drain exit dug out and now working

Daylight can now be seen from the drain exit

The third problem was that parts of the drain running down the path had become clogged so water had been overflowing onto the path.

One of several sections of the drain dug out and the bank built up

The final problem was that people were unclear where to go opposite Lumb Bank Cottages (two people stopped and asked me the way!). Two waymarks were fixed which hopefully will solve the problem.

Work funded by Heptonstall Parish Council.
