RIPPONDEN: BARKISLAND VILLAGE WALK 3 continued

Ian S, Lynda and Eleanor returned to the area between the hamlet at Berry Mill and Steele Lane to work on an upper path which is an alternative to the riverside route along Black Brook.  Despite the poor forecast and thunder rumbling around, we stayed pretty much dry the whole day thankfully.

We recycled this post lying in the brambles and Ian manfully dug a hole into the very stony ground to re-set the post.

Go left and the path takes you up the hillside towards Ringstone Reservoir , but go straight on and you join the path up from Black Brook, It gives you mud free walking and great views into the Blackburn Valley.

Tree arches across a walled track can be picturesque, but this one was getting out of hand , so...

.... we raised it and cut back all the undergrowth to widen the path. Hopefully it won't need doing for a few years now..
