TODMORDEN CENTENARY WAY ABOVE WALSDEN

Ian and Rich went to sort out a few problems on the path leading from Calderbrook Road.

The first problem was a stream crossing that had become tricky. It maybe possible to improve it using stone nearby, but will probably need a bridge. Too difficult to tackle today because of the amount of water coming down from the tops.

Stream flow from the tops

The second problem was the stream had spread at the top and was flowing over the path. We had to create a couple of channels to send it back into its water course. Once the water stopped flowing  the path is already drying out.

Water beginning to erode the edge of the path

New channel to divert water into main stream

Then on to a stile where the dog gate was unattached. A Heath Robinson version was put in place.

Unorthodox but should work ok

The next stile had a bit missing and another non working dog gate.

A more orthodox dog gate
