It was a day during which drizzle became heavy rain and concern about flooding would be uppermost in the minds of Mytholmroyd residents. Fortunately the depot is well above the flood-line and, apart from a minor leak at the doorway, it remains dry.
The day was a succession of important but mundane tasks.
1.
Benches set up for:
*Pre-drilling of boardwalk cross-treads.
Some of the cross-treads had to be trimmed to match the standard of 600 mm, but all are now pre-drilled for nailing. Doing this is a big time-saver on-site.
*Painting of marker poles.
Occasionally we use white-topped marker poles to indicate a route. These poles were eventually given their undercoat and left to dry. A top coat will follow.
2.
*Battery recharging
All Li-ion 7.2 V, 10.8 V and 18 V batteries were recharged. They hold 90% of their charge for about three months. A couple of batteries were 'flatter' than expected. Failure to re-charge after use is the standard conspiracy theory in this case!
Our oldest drill (a gallant survivor of two floods at the former depot) is very difficult to re-charge. The charging contacts are not repairable so the drill might soon have to be scrapped.
3.
Some rarely used waymark discs were found to be wet and muddy in their storage tin - a result of flooding in Feb 2020! Wiping, drying, re-packing and re-labelling was easy to do but a somewhat tedious task . . . made even more so by finding three other similar tins!

A glance, on the way home, at the river Calder was re-assuring. Levels were high and flow was swift but not alarmingly so. We can only hope it stays like that!
