CROW NEST WOOD

Two pairs in the wood today.  Billie and Ginny continued the work from last Monday removing saplings from the path going up through the wood so that it made an alternative route to avoid the drain gouged out by the 2012 floods.  Today there was plenty of evidence that the original path had become a drain!

Removing saplings on the bank helped a bit.

We then moved to the lower path behind the houses in Palace House Road where there was a similar problem.

It's now much easier to stay out of the stream!

Mo and Ian V worked higher up where a collapsed tree was blocking the path. After much sawing, lopping and dragging, the path was cleared to leave a better path than the ankle deep mud that walkers had been forced to use previously.

Before and after removing the branches - now there's a clear path

Then, further down, we created a high level alternative to the existing path (which is actually a stream in wet weather).

Too much of a slope to walk safely above the 'stream' so a path has been cut to keep your boots dry!
