Heidi, Ginny and Ian worked on a stile, steps and some drainage on the Ted Hughes path at the top of Hill House Brink at Heights Road. The stile over the wall from the footpath onto Heights Road needed some repair and the addition of steps up to the stile to make it easier to use.

Before - leg missing on upper treadboard and rotten leg on lower tread |
More problems down the hill - the yellow-top post was in the wrong place but when we tried to relocate it came off in my hand - honest guv! The broken post shown below is in the location where a new post is required. A section of the path further down the hill was completely flooded and needed a bit of drainage work to rectify the situation.

...and Heidi got down and dirty on fixing the stile |
A new 4" x 4" leg was installed to support the upper treadboard and a smaller 3"x 3" post was reused as a leg for the lower treadboard. Two steps were constructed to make it easier to walk up from the path to the stile. The top rail of the stile needs to be replaced soon as it rotting away.
