Stephenson House
After a prolonged break, involving Christmas and New Year festivities, Ray and Frank H returned to work on a stile on one of the paths below Stephenson House. The main stile had been completed in the previous session, but a dog-gate was now needed.
Here's the situation before work started:
The basic stile is good. Ignore the slightly deceiving perspective:- every upright is vertical and every cross-rail is horizontal!
Some time later:
The stile now has a dog-gate fitted with the additional feature of a dog-grill. This, as animal lovers will be relieved to hear, is not some sort of canine burger but a way of excluding lambs while still providing enough width for dogs.
This work was funded by donations to CROWS.
Next week's task will be to tidy-up the stock fence (to left of picture) and then to construct a suitable crossing for the stream that flows just beyond the stile.

Stile without dog-gate. Already some of the stock fencing has been cut by persons unknown to produce a makeshift dog-gap! |
