CRAGG VALE, JUMBLE HOLE

Alastair and Frank S were working on the steps leading from Castle Gate down to the old mill pond.

We then nailed staples into the steep wooden steps just below the road. These were extremely slippery in the wet, but the staples made a huge difference.

Meanwhile Nick, Ian, Ken and Ginny returned to the very long flight of steps leading from Jumble Hole to Blackshaw Head.  The first half had been done last week.

Near the top, the steps appeared to get smaller
Until the vegetation was cleared!

There were also some drainage problems

Ken found a drain, but as water was flowing out everywhere the landowner said we were wasting our time (but he gave us all a cup of tea which was very welcome in the rain)
