HEBDEN BRIDGE & HARDCASTLE CRAGS

Stella, Ray and Bernard out today.

Two finger posts to go in on the Hebden Bridge - Hardcastle Crags route.

The finger posts are made by Calderdale Countryside Service.

The flags are made using a CNC router - very Hi Tech!

But then Paul, a Countryside Service volunteer, makes the mortise by hand

The two handsome marker posts were installed at the top and bottom of the steps linking Midgehole Road and the bottom of Lee Mill Road.  These should really help any confused visiting walkers who have apparently been wandering into people's gardens looking for the path!

Posts delivered

First one in at the top of the steps

Better than the little waymarks
Finishing touches to the one at the bottom of the steps
Then we went on to Midgehole car park at Hardcastle Crags to put in a post ready for a red route waymark which the National Trust Ranger will attach.

Meanwhile, later in the day we dealt with a slippery surface on the bridge on the Foster Dam path

The perished chicken wire replaced by a more robust anti-slip mesh

The work today was funded by the National Trust and the Mill Pond Alliance
