CLOUGH HOLE ABOVE MYTHOLMROYD

Stella, Rich, Ray and Fred worked on a delightful winding path joining Raw Lane to Burlees Lane.

Two main tasks today.

Stella and Ray worked on the top set of steps where they cleared the steps, put in a handrail and built an extra stone step

Steps before clearing

The steps were uneven and some quite a drop, hence the request for a handrail

Much easier to use
Meanwhile Fred and Rich were working on a set of steps in the wood below.

The steps had inches of mud in them making them very tricky to use

Steps cleared and widened (and rotting timber discovered)

Replacement for rotted steps being put in

All the treads now filled in with stone
The encroaching holly over the steps was cut back.

More to do on this path next week.

Handrail funded by local resident, other work funded by Huddersfield University as part of their Ted Hughes walks.
