RISHWORTH MILL PONDS WOODS

Graham and Frank H returned to the beautiful woodland setting at Rishworth.

The tranquil mill-pond (in a brief lull between downpours!)

The river (a tributary to the
river Ryburn) in heavy flow.

The task was to continue the work from 25th Sept. Unfortunately our blog for that date seems to have disappeared! (Anyone know where it's gone?) Fortunately, on the ground, our handiwork of widening, stabilising and adding steps to an awkward path that went up a steep bank, still survives!

Here are some 'work in progress' pictures of today's efforts.

Start of work on a couple of steps
that will help foot placement.
Several soakings later;- Path widened and more steps in place.

It was not the driest of days. The showers that were forecast seemed to be joined up:- we got very wet! However, despite the very difficult ground conditions, widening was done, steps were constructed and the side-banking was landscaped to markedly improve the route up this wooded path.
Here's a 'before and after' comparison.

The path after:- looking down the slope.

The path before:- looking up the slope.

Today's work was funded by David Warland to help improve access to this delightful area.
