Day 2 on the HB-Mytholmroyd path.
Ginny, Heidi, Bernard and Rich formed the work party today.
Heidi and Ginny started the day by working on the path going down the station - well used by Dodd Naze residents, but in terrible condition. The path was cleared but it is obvious that one set of steps need replacing and another set need putting in. Further funding will be required for this project.
The stone steps above the road were in good condition, but needed clearing of mud and ivy.
Bernard and Rich did a permanent repair on a stile.
 |
New treadboard and waymark |
They then started to improve the path surface by scraping the surface and were later joined by Ginny and Heidi.
 |
Bank collapsed over path |
 |
Piles of beech mast |
 |
Rubble on the path and a tree root lying on the route |
Encroaching tree foliage was cut back. once scraping had started, it became clear that this was a wonderful setted track, probably predating the current main road.
Work funded by Hebden Royd Town Council
