2 teams out today.
Team 1 consisted of Nigel and Ken visiting the path alongside the former Foster Dam in Hebden Bridge to replace some step risers that had rotted and to carry out general maintenance, including the cutting back of brambles.
Rotten timbers cleared out although most steps were still in good condition.
Scraping flights of steps on both sides of the breach of the former dam and cutting back vegetation.
More clearing out of rotten timbers:- however the stobs were in surprisingly good condition
Photos of replaced risers and after the clearance of vegetation.
We decided to make a new timber step here and clean up the existing stone steps
After back-filling the new step and scraping mud off the stone steps, they are now much easier to use on this very popular path. We got much praise from local residents in the Foster Lane and Windsor Road area.
Work funded by CROWS.
Team 2 was Alastair, RJ and Ginny working to erect an information board opposite the Shepherd's Rest pub above Todmorden. Due to the large number of visitors to 'the highest beach in England' a board had been prepared to display information about the area and the routes to take. Some days nothing goes right, so we did some drainage repairs while we waited for the board to be delivered.

First we measured where to dig the holes, then we re-dug them to fit the legs.
Carrying the board in the strong winds was like trying to control a sailing ship, but we eventually got it upright and in position.
Unfortunately, the post-crete had already set before we opened the bags! So after trying to break it up Alastair and Ginny did a one hour trip through the roadworks to Calvag to buy some more.
Eventually the board was concreted into position (though still quaking in the wind).
And is ready for the influx of visitors at Easter.
