Two teams today
Rich and Ginny completed the refurbishment of the Open Access board at Widdop Gate.
 |
Not a thing of beauty or any use! |
 |
Frame all cleaned up and top being painted (thanks to Libby's step ladder!) |
 |
Backboard ready to fit |
While we were waiting for first coat to go off, went to deal with a Pennnine Way finger-post lying on the ground.
 |
Temporary fixed in place, will need a return visit |
Then lunchtime, so thought we would have a look at the board we did at Widdop reservoir. It looks fine, but the car park was littered with rubbish!
 |
Half a bag full |
 |
Just got the second coat on and it started to drizzle, hopefully this will stay on until it has dried! |
Team 2 consisted of
Nigel, Ian, Ken, Gerald and Mick who re-visited Green's Clough at Portsmouth where in the Spring of 2016 we completed a flight of steps on Todmorden 68 footpath which is part of the Todmorden Boundary Walk . The steps are still in good condition; a testament to the quality of
CROWS workmanship! However a local landslip had resulted in the flight of steps being covered in mud and small stones. The pictures below convey the scene of devastation.
View looking up the steps
The collapse had brought down some quite large boulders
Looking down-the steps had largely disappeared
Much of the first part of the day was spent carrying timber to the site and clearing the path of loose stones. The task was then to construct some revetment to the side of the path and try to prevent a re-occurrence of the problem of material falling onto the path. The next photo shows some of the side revetment in position. However, we shall need to return to complete the work.
