Frank H, Mo, Ray and Stella returned to the path (the one they know so well!) that leads down from Walshaw towards Hebden Water. It was another (long) day of step-building to make a RoW mud-slide accessible to walkers.
Here are some pictures taken shortly after today's work had started:
Extra section of revetment added to last week's efforts. |
Stella using the heavy bar to make a pilot hole and Mo starting the drive-in of a 'stob' while simultaneously missing Ray's fingers (a fine example of multi-tasking!).
Towards the end of the day, steps had been added to the above sections of revetment.
Stella, after a really strenuous day. That middle-distance is so calm and peaceful! |
Most of the day's work caught in a single shot. |
On this part of the path, there remains a short, but awkward, section (just below Stella) that needs three steps and there is still some in-fill and landscaping to complete.
Much further up there is a slippery, acute, left-hand bend that needs widening, three steps adding and some revetment constructing:- ideal tasks for next week . . . . then it's off to 'fresh woods and pastures new'.
The extensive work on this path has been funded by National Trust (Hardcastle Crags).
