Two teams out today
Walsden (Pennine Bridleway)
Peter and Nigel finished the long standing job on the path leading down from the Pennine Bridleway which follows the line of the Summit Tunnel close to the Calderdale/Rochdale boundary at Walsden. The path forms part of the Todmorden Centenary Way.
The main task was to install a revetment on the downhill side of this very steep path.
The revetment to go on the left side of the path leading up to the marker post at the top. It was clear weather when we started

Mytholmroyd (Daisy Bank)
Gerald, Ginny and Rich did day 3 on Daisy Bank
Ginny met up with the landowner to check she was ok with the work and to look at a number of other problems.
Gerald and Rich carried the tools up the hillside in one of out new sherpa packs - a lot easier than just using a sack!
We widened a stretch of path and put in four steps, dodging the roots to find a place to put in the securing pegs.
Ginny and Gerald then put in a marker post at the top (no photo, too far to go back to the top to take one!) and Rich lopped back the trees all the way down.
Daisy Bank work is funded by Hebden Royd Town Council. One more work party should see this path finished.
Meanwhile back at the depot .......Frank H had been to see Humphrey Bolton, one of our supporters who had some surplus tools to donate. These included spades, a fork, a pair of loppers, a sledgehammer, a pick, a bowsaw, an angle grinder and a pair of the following which, although old, will be very useful.

This look like a great tool for dealing with stubborn sedge grass - can't wait to try it out! |
