MYTHOLMROYD (DAISY BANK) & OLD TOWN

Old Town

Paul and Gerald were finishing off some jobs in Old Town.

Old Town work was funded by Wadsworth Parish Council.

Mytholmroyd (Daisy Bank)

Ginny organised the rest into three teams for Daisy Bank, all of which involved a very long up hill carry of all the tools and timber - so a late start actually working!

Ken and Nigel sorted a stile by adding an additional tread-board and step-a job started several weeks ago. They then went on to put in an additional step in the woodland stretch of path.

At the top of the slope was a stile previously put in by the landowner

We added a lower step and a grab post to assist an otherwise rather awkward climb

The flight of steps with the revised stile arrangement at the top

The newer lower step with 4 x 4 inch uprights is the one added today and should be more robust than the higher step with the rounded stobs

Frank S and Tristan had the very difficult job of installing a gate. Being between a large sycamore tree and a dry stone wall - it was a pretty tricky job.

Just a catch and some timber between the post and the wall to fit.

Ginny and Rich worked on the steps in the woodland. The step infill was heading down the hill side so needed to be secured.

Trying a bit of revetment out for size
Once the stretches of revetment were in place, we could fill in the gaps with stone and then use packed down earth to create a flat surface.

The two sections of the path stabilised - and much easier to walk on.
One more session should Daisy Bank finished.

All the work on Daisy Bank was funded by Hebden Royd Town Council.
