EASTWOOD and HARDCASTLECRAGS

Eastwood, Todmorden

Dick, Gerald, RJ and Stuart made what has become an annual visit to clear paths, some of which had become almost impassable and repair a ditch damaged by cattle. Still a lot more to do, probably 2 more visits.

Before

And After

Strimmers needed here

No Problem

Right of Way blocked by new fence with old stile and waymark thrown in field.

MeanwhileFred and Frank H went to Hardcastle Crags to establish a path-line linking two activity areas; the 'log-circle' and the 'den site'.

Before picture. Area where line of path is to be made clearer.
The approximate line for the path was pegged-out on a temporary basis and the undergrowth cleared. The exact line of the path, especially where steps are concerned, will depend on ground conditions.

After picture. Path line more obvious and preparation work for steps is just starting.
This section is steeper than it looks, so a set of steps will be built.

Five steps in place.
There is some consolidation of the tread areas to do and more steps to build as the path rises up the bank:- that's plenty of work for the forthcoming weeks!
