NORLAND AND SOWERBY

Six of us were spread across a hillside at Norland under Ginny's "command".  Bernard & Stuart were building a stile, Fred & Richard J were putting in some steps on a slippery path at the south  end of Weir Wood and Sam & Stella were cutting back holly and scraping off deep wet leaf mulch from the path at the north end of the wood, and uncovering an old stone "road" beneath.

wet mulch...

.....

This is the style before repair.  Treadboards always add a finishing touch! (I've given up trying to get this photo below the road through the woods!)
Cutting back the vegetation made the path wider
there IS a road through the woods!

Fred and Richard discovered that a set of steps already existed under the mud!
